Every day, we will welcome a Beatitude and deepen it through the catechesis of Pope Francis and a short extract from his Apostolic Exhortation Gaudete et Exsultate<\/em>. Day after day, Marie Rivier will urge us to walk resolutely on the way of the Beatitudes. The Church, through the liturgy, will put before our eyes and in our hearts the Word of God, inexhaustible treasure and bread of life.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout this time of preparation for the feast of February 3, which we will live in a special way in the light of the future canonization of Mother Marie Rivier, let us be attentive.  Our beloved Mother speaks to our hearts and minds. She shows us the way to follow this path of happiness: I hope that you will all be renewed and that you will walk with great strides in the ways of holiness.  May this year be a year of holiness for all of you, may you not waste a single of your actions.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Let us move forward in joy, in thanksgiving and in love! Jesus is with us. We have seen his glory, the glory as of the Father\u2019s only Son, full of grace and truth<\/em> Jn 1:14.<\/span><\/p>\n

May the Virgin Mary, our Mother and Guardian, draw down upon us the Spirit of light and peace so we might reveal to all the hope that dwells in us.<\/span><\/p>\n

I wish a fervent novena to each of you my dear Sisters and to the entire Spiritual Family of Marie Rivier: Associates, Consecrated Lay Persons, Rivier Youth, Friends and Collaborators. Let us live united in faith.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, we can ask ourselves: do I bear witness to the prophecy of Jesus? Do I express the prophetic spirit I received in Baptism? Or do I conform to the comforts of life and to my own laziness, assuming that everything is fine if it is fine with me? Do I bring to the world the joyful newness of Jesus\u2019 prophecy or the usual complaints about what is wrong? Questions that are good for us to ask ourselves. There is no holiness <\/strong>without joy!   <\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

[\/vc_hoverbox][vc_empty_space height=”70px”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][gva_image_content background=”26529″][\/gva_image_content][vc_column_text]If God grants us the grace to be more like the Crucified Christ and joined to his Passion, then exclusion and persecution are the manifestation of new life. This life is the same as the life of Christ who was \u201cdespised and rejected\u201d for us men and women and for our salvation\u201d (cf. Is 53:3; Acts 8:30-35). Welcoming his Spirit can lead us to have so much love in our heart as to offer our life for the world without making compromises with its deceit and accepting its rejection\u2026 (General Audience, April 29, 2020)<\/span><\/p>\n

Persecutions are not a reality of the past, for today too we experience them, whether by the shedding of blood, as is the case with so many contemporary martyrs, or by more subtle means, by slander and lies. \u2026 At other times, persecution can take the form of gibes that try to caricature our faith and make us seem ridiculous.<\/span><\/p>\n

Accepting daily the path of the Gospel, <\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

even though it may cause us problems: <\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

that is holiness!<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The path of persecutions and sufferings is a sure way to Heaven. Yet we ourselves are often a cause of conflict or at least of misunderstanding. \u2026 The world of gossip, inhabited by negative and destructive people, does not bring peace.<\/span><\/p>\n

89. It is not easy to \u201cmake\u201d this evangelical peace, which excludes no one but embraces even those who are a bit odd, troublesome or difficult, demanding, different, beaten down by life or simply uninterested. It is hard work; it calls for great openness of mind and heart<\/span><\/p>\n

Sowing peace all around us: that is holiness! <\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

To have peace with ourselves, let us be humble, modest… for there is no peace here below without war; and that is why we must make war on our passions. (Meditations on the Beatitudes)<\/span><\/p>\n

[\/vc_hoverbox][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row row_space=”remove_padding_top”][vc_column width=”2\/3″][gva_image_content background=”26389″][\/gva_image_content][vc_column_text]In order to see God, there is neither the need to change eyeglasses or vantage point, nor to change the theological authors who teach the path: we need to free the heart from its deception. This is the only path. [\u2026]<\/span><\/p>\n

But what does having a \u201cpure<\/em>\u201d heart mean? A pure heart lives in the presence of the Lord, preserving in the heart what is worthy of the relationship with him. Only in this way can one possess an intimate life that is \u201cunified<\/em>, linear and unwinding. [\u2026]<\/span><\/p>\n

Keeping a heart free of all that tarnishes love: that is holiness!<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Carelessness, thoughtlessness, fragility, inconstancy make us commit so many faults that they cannot be counted… Let us guard our heart. Let us watch carefully over its movements, let us always have our eyes open to receive the divine lights and to discover the wiles of the enemy! Someone might object: \u201cIf I am that meek, they will think that I am an idiot, a fool or a weakling\u201d. At times they may, but so be it. It is always better to be meek, for then our deepest desires will be fulfilled. The meek \u201cshall inherit the earth\u201d, for they will see God\u2019s promises accomplished in their lives. In every situation, the meek put their hope in the Lord, and those who hope for him shall possess the land\u2026 and enjoy the fullness of peace.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reacting with meekness and humility: that is holiness<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][gva_image_content background=”26317″][\/gva_image_content][vc_column_text]The wise person has the secret of softening all evils: meekness, poverty, ignominy, prison, exile, contradictions of all kinds, scorn and humiliation, everything becomes sweet to him. And if we ask what is this rare, wonderful and precious secret? Here it is: humility and patience are the two companions of meekness. Let us take this shield when something shocks us. Let us never give entry to anger, spite, bad temper; rather, let us drive them out – without delay! (Meditations on the Beatitudes)<\/span><\/p>\n

Tears are the sign that the soul is not frozen. Fill our hearts, Lord, not with sorrow but with tenderness, fill them with compassion for others, beginning with those closest to us. Teach us to share in the suffering of the afflicted, to carry their burdens, to take their side actively. Make us attentive, Lord, to those who weep; it is through their eyes that you weep. Give us the ability to be ever vigilant at the gates of the immense kingdom of sorrow. Letter 14-3<\/span><\/h2>\n

We are given the right to be poor in spirit because this is the path to the Kingdom of God. (General Audience, February 5, 2020).<\/span><\/p>\n

He invites us to live a plain and austere life. He calls us to share in the life of those most in need, the life lived by the Apostles, and ultimately to configure ourselves to Jesus who, though rich, \u201cmade himself poor.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Being poor of heart, <\/strong>that is holiness<\/strong>! <\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

We will say: \u201cBlessed are the poor\u201d – those who have left everything behind, who care for nothing but God alone; who are occupied only with gathering treasures for Heaven.
