Carlos del Valle Garcia svd spoke to us about the Formation of the Heart … a formation to interiority. He presented the theme by giving us his description of a religious today: a religious is someone whose heart has been evangelized by the person of Jesus Christ. He highlighted the importance of evangelizing our human senses, through the practice of contemplating the Word of God. As formators, we must be the first to form our hearts in this way in order to be able to help those who come to us. He said: “The most beautiful gift we can give to our Congregation is a good heart”.

Our very own Sister Marie du Christ Gaucherand, helped us deepen the spiritual heritage we have received from Blessed Marie Rivier who was formed in the French School of Spirituality. She highlighted some aspects of our spiritual heritage as it was lived and treasured by Marie Rivier herself. To name some of these: love for Jesus Christ, His Cross, His Mother, the spirit of zeal, prayer and adoration, her sense of the glory and the greatness of God. Her reflections helped us deepen the spirituality behind these values which, as formators, we have the responsibility to pass on to the future generations.

ngg_shortcode_0_placeholderThe day spent in Rome was special and bonding. Together we shared in Wednesday’s audience with Pope Francis and afterwards celebrated the Eucharist. The afternoon was free for everyone to enjoy one another’s company.

Our day spent reflecting on our Spirituality and Charism challenged us to live in fidelity the Charism which Marie Rivier received from God. This Charism, this fire, is the force that urges us to live our identity as PM’s, bearers of Jesus Christ’s presence to our world today. We ended this day, the last day of October, with a special Marian procession and the prayer of the rosary.

ngg_shortcode_1_placeholderSr. Kelly Connors pm, member of the General Council, presented to us, in a very interesting and human way, the evangelical counsels of chastity, poverty and obedience according to Canon Law with reference to our Rule of Life. She explained several norms that touch current issues and invited us to renew our desire to strive for coherence and integrity in our daily living of our religious life. Since these counsels are our way to holiness, the purpose of our vocation, she also elaborated the meaning of our co-responsibility as we live these commitments in community. To truly understand why we do what we do would help us live more deeply the essence of our vows.

We ended this second week by praying Vespers and the rosary together.

SECOND WEEK 28 October – 2 November Our second week unfolded well … Fr.
