LAUDATO SI<\/em> IN HOLY CROSS COLLEGE OF CALINAN<\/span><\/h2>\n

At this very different turn up in our world history prompted by the global pandemic of Covid 19, Holy Cross College of Calinan has chosen LAUDATO SI as a means of adapting to the changing conditions of life, accompanied by the emerging new needs, particularly in Christian education. Laudato Si calls for Integral Evangelization to address the \u2018Cry of the earth and the cry of the poor\u2019<\/em>\u2014a call which the educational sector cannot let go unheard.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the absence of a face-to-face method of learning, Sr. Zosima Escolano, pm the school president, brought us together — school administrators, employees of teaching and non-teaching staff and, student assistants, to a shared endeavor of taking care of God’s creation through gardening! The HCCC launched the ‘Laudato Si Garden of virtues of Marie Rivier’ last August 14, 2020. Laudato Si in HCCC is a sustained project throughout this academic year and even beyond. The launching was live-streamed so that HCCC students, families, and friends can virtually participate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gardening is an activity that we do together every Friday.  It brings out one’s creativity and ingenuity. It also addresses our need for emotional, psychological, and mental fitness. Above all, the joyful interaction, camaraderie, and solidarity among us are priceless — and that which creates our school community, a family.<\/span><\/p>\n

ngg_shortcode_0_placeholderAs we work in our gardens, we are maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of our school campus. The beautiful gardens around us will give us relief from the stressful work in our respective offices and instruction rooms. We also develop our resourcefulness by transforming the waste materials into eye-catching and unique decors for our garden Keeping ourselves healthy is keeping in touch with Mother Earth.  <\/span><\/p>\n

Each Laudato Si garden is named after a virtue of Blessed Marie Rivier that we want to cultivate in the garden of our life. The act of nurturing creation, helps us grow in wonder and contemplation at the unique beauty of living organisms and the grandeur of the Creator, God! The ecological conversion, called for, by Laudato Si has found its way to our hearts.<\/span><\/p>\n

ngg_shortcode_1_placeholderThrough Laudato Si Garden, we hope to proclaim the integration of faith and life.  We hope to reveal the Christian message not only by words but also by gestures of cooperation, generosity, and compassionate service to our school community and environment. May our initial step help \u201cto transform the present groaning and travail into the birth pangs of a new way of living together– bonded together in love, compassion and solidarity, and a more harmonious relationship with the natural world, our common home.\u201d<\/em> (Laudato Si Special Anniversary Year)<\/span><\/p>\n
