Life during Pandemic means, to hold on to God, to search and experience His presence.

For PM-Philippine Education, our topmost concern is: How can we sustain and accompany the growing faith of our young students in the absence of face-to-face classroom and school campus interactions?

Each PM school has a Campus Ministry which is responsible for the integral faith formation of the students and stakeholders of the school. It is responsible for planning and organizing institutional’ liturgical, devotional, and sacramental activities. It also helps the school community to cultivate a personal relationship with God through regular spiritual retreats and recollections, spiritual guidance, and provide prayer space for personal prayer. The Campus Ministry also collaborates with families, diocese, and civic society as means to integral evangelization, which is the Philippine Church’s Pastoral priority.

Prayer space for the students, a school, or the convent chapel

ngg_shortcode_0_placeholderIn PM Education, we have identified common values to inculcate and cultivate in our school community. These are the values of Jesus in the Gospel and the life example of our dear Foundress Blessed Marie Rivier. Our aim is to integrate closely the settings of daily life and learning, through Christian living classes and Campus Ministry’s meaningful activities. Sisters working in State University (ESSU) also strive to share these values.

Internet is wonderful! The Christian living teachers with the Campus Ministers, make the modular lessons more attractive by adding images related to the religious activities given online. Teachers integrate the recollection in their modules in the form of questions for reflection and through arts. Students were encouraged to make videos with specific themes or submit photos using mobile photography and inviting them to pray family Rosaries. Vocation month activities focus on the theme of Mission, and the event like the 500 years of Christianity in the country, proved many creativities and fun!

ngg_shortcode_2_placeholderAre they effective as much as the actual face-to-face interactions?

This is a real question. Covid 19 has turned our Campus Ministry’s life and plans upended. But it also created great courage that in all the ways and means we provide for students and stakeholders; the Holy Spirit is always at work in our learners’ lives! The presence of God has no time and space because it is the work of the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Holy Spirit is quietly weaving the different threads of activities we can possibly do, into something beautiful for God and for His world amidst the pandemic!
