Sister Murielle was our sister. We admired her, loved her and will always remember her in so many ways.<\/span><\/p>\nSister Murielle was a passionate lover of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary and of Saint Marie Rivier our Foundress. She served the Church with so much love all her life. She was relentless in good works and her faith and zeal could easily be compared to that of Saint Marie Rivier. This was the legacy that Sister Murielle Savard imparted to the sisters of the Senegambia Region and in a special way to the Presentation of Mary sisters and the people of The Gambia. Her apostolate rippled far and wide, to people of all beliefs and social backgrounds.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n

Sister Murielle Savard arrived in the Region of Senegambia in August 1976. She was in charge of a vocational school that had been newly established by Sister Cecilia Lanovaz, also from the Province of Prince Albert.<\/span><\/p>\nHer passion to teach and preach Jesus Christ and her love for women was so great that began the Saint Marie Rivier Associates, a Church movement that continues to thrive in the Gambia today. She also started the Divine Mercy Association in Banjul.<\/span><\/p>\nThe memorial Mass for our dear Sr. Murielle was on Monday, the 20th<\/sup> February, 2023 at the Church of the Holy Family, Star of the Sea parish, Bakau. The Mass was well attended by the Associates of St. Marie Rivier, students and ex-students of Presentation Girls\u2019 Vocational School, and by sympathizers from all works of life. Beautiful tributes were written by some of the sisters of the Region, ex-students of Presentation Girls\u2019 Vocational school, Associates, friends and well-wishers.
