“WITH MARIE RIVIER, ON THE WAY OF THE BEATITUDES”
The Saint Michael’s School of Padada,Inc. (SMSP), pioneered by the Presentation of Mary Sisters, together with the school’s faculty and staff, and the Marie Rivier Associates (MRAs), did not cease to magnanimously commemorate the 184th death anniversary and feast day of Blessed Marie Rivier, amid the insurgence of the COVID-19 Pandemic on February 3, 2022. The celebration was centered on the theme: “With Marie Rivier, On the Way of the Beatitudes,” which emphasizes the value of zeal, prayer, and faith of the sole foundress of the Presentation of Mary Sisters.
The celebration started with a Holy Mass held at Saint Michael’s Parish in Padada, where it was telecast live via Facebook to enjoin every Michaelian to the Holy Mass in spite of geographical dispersion. This was followed by a humbling experience of “salo-salo” at the SMSP’s covered court where the attendees generously shared their palatable foods, accompanied by sharing their memorable life experiences with each other.
Moreover, in line with the primary mission of Marie Rivier, which is to bring children closer to God through teaching, the school initiated a community outreach program, wherein the Gagmayng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK) of Sta Cruz in Lower Limonzo, Padada was chosen as the target setting of the said activity. The children were gathered and were joyfully taught by Sr. Florinda Palanog, PM, about the loving virtues of the foundress, particularly how they could apply them in their own simple ways. As well, the teaching essentially stressed the life of Marie Rivier, wherein the children eagerly listened to the lively and evocative story-telling of Sr. Florinda Palanog, PM. There was no doubt that the catechesis was a success and culminated with a simple feeding activity for the children where delicious food prepared by the ever-dynamic SMSP’s faculty and staff were shared and enjoyed by everyone. The smiles stayed on children’s faces as they bid goodbye are proof of how satisfied and joyful they are with the sharing we had. It also paid off the relentless efforts of the people behind this fulfilling moment. Indeed, it’s the season of Marie Rivier’s compassionate love for children that really penetrated everyone’s hearts after all.

Nevertheless, the PM Sisters, together with the teachers, satisfactorily went off with smiling faces and immeasurable joy, bringing with them the lessons and fun-filled experiences that they can treasure for the rest of their lives. As the night came on, the last meal was spent with a grateful heart with the thought of being able to commemorate Marie Rivier’s big day with a purpose and meaningful experience. It was really a blessed and fulfilling day, as everyone imitated the virtues of Mother Rivier in their own simple ways most especially that the value of sharing was heartily emphasized. This left everyone a meaningful message in the saying: In our own ways, we can live out these virtues, and it will help us grow closer to God. This was also a powerful reminder that, together with the intercession of Mother Rivier, we can continue to spread love and peace through our heart-service to others.
