Celebrating Blessed Marie Rivier’s Feast-Day during the Pandemic
On February 3, 2022, Holy Cross College of Calinan, Inc., commemorated the 184th anniversary of the death of the Foundress of the Presentation of Mary (P.M. Sisters), also known as the Feast of Blessed Marie Rivier, with the theme “On the Way of the Beatitudes with Marie Rivier.”
To honor Marie Rivier’s feast day, Mass was lived-streamed and a prayer at Marie Rivier’s statue was offered. The Eucharist was presided by Rev. Fr. Mark Kim Samones, DCD and Rev. Fr. Glen Diaz. Prior to this feast, we prayed a novena together via Facebook live.
In lieu of the usual celebration, the Supreme Student Council published a video presentation on their official Facebook page showing the life of Blessed Marie Rivier who was an exemplary Christian throughout her life, especially during the French Revolution, when religious activities were prohibited, and even more so as she founded her Religious Congregation during this time. She displayed limitless enthusiasm in service of the Gospel.
For Marie Rivier and her daughters, “Christian Education of Children and Youth” was and will always remain a priority. Nevertheless, their zeal for the Education of the Faith also extends to adults.”
The celebration of the feast of Marie Rivier is lived annually, however, this year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the feast was celebrated through the use of an online platform following the safety procedures and preventive measures.
Just two months ago, Pope Francis approved the decree of the Canonization of Blessed Marie Rivier. We await the announcement of the date for the celebration of her canonization. This event makes this year’s celebration very memorable!
