Novitiate

No one can lay any foundation
other than the one that has been laid,
which is Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:11

Marie Rivier presents the novitiate as a school of faith and of happiness.
There the novice learns in Jesus Christ to walk in the presence of God
and to nourish herself with the bread of his divine will. C 123

The Novice consecrates herself entirely to God.
She enters into a new life…

to be with him,
to know him,
to bind herself strongly to him,
to put on his spirit,
to enter into the way of the beatitudes,
to let grow in her a burning desire to work
at making him known and loved.

In the Novitiate, life unfolds to grow in the most profound meaning of humanity and of being a beloved child of God. In silence and solitude, a novice listens to the voice of the Lord in the depths of her heart. He attracts her to him and wills to betroth her to himself forever in love and faithfulness. C 124

Dear Novices,

Happy Feast Day!

On this day, the Church presents us St. Stanislaus Kostka as a model for youth, and our Foundress Marie Rivier chose him as the Patron of our Novitiates. “I was born for heavenly things!” said Stanislaus! I am wholeheartedly with you on this your Feast Day and I invite you to marvel at the beauty of St. Stanislaus’ life, which was entirely given over to God.

May Stanislaus teach you to seek friendship with Jesus above all else, to read and meditate on his Word and to welcome his merciful and powerful presence in the Eucharist. May he teach you not to be afraid to risk the dreams of true happiness, of which Jesus Christ is the source and the guarantee. “Jesus is the Lord of risks, the Lord who always invites us to go beyond.”

May this time of Novitiate be for each one of you a true experience of an encounter with Jesus Christ. A time when, accompanied by your formators and the members of your community, you can learn in Jesus Christ to walk in the presence of God and to nourish yourselves with the bread of his divine will.

May Mary, our Mother and Guardian, obtain for you the ardent love with which she inflamed the heart of Saint Stanislaus Kostka. Fervent Feast Day to each one!

Your Mother in Marie Rivier,

Mother Maria dos Anjos Alves, pm
