Munting Paaralan: A passion not a duty

Rooted in the Presentation of Mary’s (PM) twofold mission of educating and reaching out to the poor, Munting Paaralan (Little School) was founded in 1994 by the then Holy Cross College of Calinan Director, Sr. Anne Marie Noveda, pm and the late Sr. Carmen Saniel, pm.  Notably, the Girl Scouts were the first teachers in Munting Paaralan.

Today, inspired by the mission and charism of Blessed Marie Rivier, Holy Cross College of Calinan (HCCC) through its Community Extension and Services Office (CESO) continues the Munting Paaralan project. Munting Paaralan is operating in the HCCC school campus and in Salaysay, Marilog District where, Munting Paaralan is called the Marinette Learning Center.

Munting Paaralan caters to indigenous pre-school children from ages 4-7 who belong to poor families. It promotes cognitive-based activities for the children, spiritual (catechism) and human values development, service-based teaching, and develops collaborative responsibility thereby improving lives and enhancing human dignity.

Sharing seeds of knowledge, time and monitory aid emanating from the hearts of the students of Holy Cross College of Calinan with these children is not just a duty but a PASSION as lived by our PM Foundress and model, Blessed Marie Rivier. Her mission to make Jesus Christ known and loved, is our passion!
