General House
Golden Jubilee of Religious Profession
Mother Maria dos Anjos ALVES
1970 – 2020
On Tuesday, September 29, 2020, the General House community celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Mother Marie dos Anjos. The Mass, presided by Cardinal João Braz de Aviz, Prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, was concelebrated by Father Enzo Policari, our parish priest and Father Jean Louis Ska, our faithful chaplain.

The festivities began the evening before with a special time of prayer. It was to Mary, our Mother and Guardian, that we turned in order to entrust to her our songs of praise and thanksgiving. It is with her that we gathered to encounter the Lord, united with our sisters from the four corners of the world. After an offering of incense, we lit seven candles and recalled the beauty of Mother Maria dos Anjos’ life. May Christ, light of the world, continue to illuminate this path that has been her journey for 50 years.

Ao vosso jubileu
Cinquenta anos de consagração
Da Madre Maria dos Anjos
Canta, jubi, jubi, jubi, jubileu!
This is the refrain that accompanied our day of celebration. At the end of a festive meal, Mother Maria dos Anjos gave thanks to God, who has set his gaze upon her, for his fidelity which is everlasting. She warmly thanked Cardinal Braz who came to celebrate this day with us. It was also a good time to express our gratitude to Father Jean Louis Ska for his quality of presence, especially during the long months of confinement. She paid homage to her parents for the Christian education she received and her vocation that matured in her family. Finally, she reiterated her gratitude to each of the sisters of the Casa for the organization of this Jubilee. Our community recreation in the afternoon allowed us to be in communion with all the sisters of the Congregation. Thanks to today’s technologies of information and communication, we welcomed her family and in turn, each Province, Region and Mission, to the Casa. What creativity!
