The love of Christ impels us…Let us move forwards in the footsteps of St. Marie Rivier

On the29th  day of August, 2023, the memorial of the martyrdom of St. John the Baptist, the Chapter Assembly met in the usual room for another day’s work. Mother Maria dos Anjos, Superior General, presided over the moment of prayer with the reading of John 15:  I am the vine, you are the branches.″… ″Stay in me and I will stay in you″. Then an invocation to St. Joseph and St. Mary Rivier, our beloved foundress. At the end of the time of prayer, the moderator, Sr. Marian Murcia, invited us to a moment of personal reflection, with the following questions:

• What do I want for the future of my Congregation?
• How do I feel?
• Where am I?
• What is the Word of God that inhabits me this morning?

In an atmosphere of silence and recollection, we left the Chapter Hall and after an hour, we returned to share, according to the moderator’s invitation, the biblical passages that will accompany each of us during these days. Here are some of them: ″Fear not for I am with you֞ I leave you peace, I give you my peace″; ″The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want…″ ; ″I stand at the door and knock…″

After the sharing, the moderator invited the writing team to summarize the calls / signs of the times / challenges for our Congregation today.

In the afternoon, in an atmosphere of silence, prayer and recollection, we began the process of discernment for the election of the Superior General and her councilors.
