MARIE RIVIER HOME FOR CHILDREN (MRHC)

With the support of our PM Sisters, friends, benefactors and mission partners, we continue to welcome young children to Mother Rivier Home for Children (MRHC). The MRHC is approved and closely guided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Today, as a residential facility for neglected, abandoned and orphaned children, we strive to ensure that each child is protected and has the basic requirements for their sound development as they grow and become future contributing members of our society. The older group of children are now going to formal school at St. Peter’s College of Toril while the younger ones attend a public daycare program. Enrichment programs include art lessons, reading/comprehension, mathematics, science and summer activities corresponding to the interests of the children.

Each age group follows a homelife schedule to meet their developmental needs. Weekdays include regular study periods while weekends are spent in play/recreation and simple household duties that assure a happy childhood experience. Twice a month, seminarians come for pastoral care including a monthly celebration of the Eucharist. Regular Sunday Mass, Altar Server ministry, catechism and Marinette’s monthly meetings (a children’s group of the Province) are part of their life’s formative years under our care. When it is a birthday, a fiesta, or a Patronal feast day of the Sisters, each one is anticipated with much joy and celebrated together with jubilation!

The foundation of Marie Rivier Home for Children (MRHC) was motivated by Marie Rivier’s compassionate love for the poor and needy children, a precious spiritual heritage that she left to us.  Today it is a treasured place, a true home for these children. A home where their hearts find rest and love!
