PM EDUCATORS’ CONGRESS 2023
“Rivier Educators in Synodality”
The PM Sisters, administrators, faculty, and staff of the nine (9) PM schools in the Philippines joined together for a day of camaraderie, unity, and synodality as they celebrated the PM Educators’ Congress 2023 on February 17, 2023 at Saint Michael’s School of Padada in Padada, Davao del Sur. With the theme, “Rivier Educators in Synodality”, the approximately 400 PM educators from St. Peter’s College of Toril Inc., Holy Cross College of Calinan, Inc., Holy Cross of Mintal, Inc., Saint Michael’s School of Padada, Inc., Holy Cross of Malita, Inc., Holy Cross of Sta. Maria, Inc., Holy Cross of Malalag, Inc., Notre Dame of M’lang, Inc., and Presentation Academy of Clarin, Inc. gathered to listen to the
Keynote Speech of the Department of Education Regional Director XI Allan Farnazo as he pointed out the importance and relevance of coming together in inclusivity for all, which in the Filipino language as translated by Regional Director Farnazo means, “Kasali lahat, kasama lahat, para sa lahat.” Love, according to the Keynote Speaker, is the essence of SYNODALITY, to love as Jesus did, without borders or restrictions.
The Keynote Speaker further said that a community that welcomes all, protects all, and includes all is a community which is ready for synodality.
The Congress aptly started with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided by His
Excellency Most Reverend Guillermo D. Afable, DD, Bishop of the Diocese of Digos, who spoke about the need of every PM educator to have in their life Jesus in the Eucharist, the Word of God, the Blessed Mother, and the Holy Spirit. The program proper followed with the energetic Welcome Remarks delivered by the Honorable Mayor Francisco L. Guerrero, Jr. of the Municipality of Padada, Davao del Sur, also an alumnus of Saint Michael’s School of Padada, who invited the delegates to visit the beautiful Municipality of Padada and enjoy its abundant nature. In the afternoon, the delegates spent a relaxing time visiting the various booths prepared by each PM school while playing games or singing videoke, the Filipinos’ favorite pastime.
The day ended with the much-anticipated draw of the raffle prizes consisting of items and cash prizes. The delegates went home spiritually, physically, and socially filled with the priceless gifts of friendship, camaraderie, unity, solidarity, and synodality in this year’s PM Educators’ Congress 2023.
