Rivier Youth: Rise, Shine & Be unafraid
This was the theme of the first youth camp of the students of the PM Schools in Mindanao, alumni and working students of the PM Sisters in the Philippines. The said event was a result of the birth of the Youth Ministry in the Philippine Province which started this school year 2024-2025. The new Provincial Administration team deemed it necessary to accompany the Youth in their journey to holiness. Thus, in response to this need, Sr. April Margarette Hiquial, pm, the Provincial Youth animator, came up with the idea of gathering the youth in the Philippines where the sisters are present to also share the fruits of the World Youth Day to the Filipino Youth in their milieu. The WYD delegates of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary Philippine Province facilitated the said activity. The First Rivier Youth camp was held at St. Peter’s College of Toril on Jan.31-Feb.1, 2025. It was attended by 179 participants from Holy Cross College of Calinan, Inc., Holy Cross of Mintal, Inc., St. Peter’s College of Toril, Inc., Holy Cross of Sta. Maria, Inc., Holy Cross of Malalag & Notre Dame of Mlang. There were also youths from Catalunan Grande. An additional 32 volunteers and more than 20 facilitators composed of the PM Youth and Vocation Team and WYD 2023 Missionaries.
This kind of activity helps young people to meet new friends from their sister schools, challenges their ability to communicate, adapt the challenge of the 21st century skill on collaboration and synodality among their peers. It also deepens their spirituality as children of St. Marie Rivier.

This was just the beginning of future gatherings of our young people in the Rivier family. So, Youth of today, Rise, Shine and Be unafraid, embrace the potential that God has placed within each of you. Think about it: God didn’t create you to be timid or fearful. He created you for a purpose, a unique and special calling that only you can fulfill. And that calling, that purpose, is often found outside of our comfort zones.
