THE FIRST PM CONSECRATED LAY WOMAN IN FRANCE
On February 7, 2026, the Province of France welcomed into the large spiritual family of the Presentation of Mary the first consecrated laywoman for France.
Sylvie lives in Mont Saint Aignan near Rouen. Her commitment took place during Vespers at the Basilica of Notre Dame de Bonsecours.
By profession, Sylvie is a medical secretary. She became acquainted with the Presentation of Mary at the time of the merger with the Sisters of Compassion of Rouen in 2009 because she was part of their fraternity.
She learned to discover us, and due to her disability, she feels very close to Marie Rivier.
Today retired, for several years now, she is responsible, together with a sister, for the Marie Rivier Fraternity. She is also part of the ACI (Catholic Action of Independent Environments).
Here is her testimony: “When I arrived at the basilica and saw the sisters, happiness swept me away and my heart was filled with fullness. When Sister Viviane asked me questions about my commitment, the Holy Spirit was with me. At the moment of my commitment before Christ and the Paschal Candle, I felt close to Christ, and at the moment of the blessing of the cross and the signing of the registers, I was happy and joyful to be part of the Presentation of Mary. When the sisters came to embrace me, it was a beautiful fraternal sign. For me, the prayer to Mary was also a powerful moment of my integration into the spiritual family of the Presentation of Mary.”
