US PROVINCE WELCOMES NEW CONSECRATED LAY WOMAN
On May 11th, 2024, after two years of formation, the United States Province was blessed to have Laura Zappala, 47, officially become a member of the Lay Consecrated of the Presentation of Mary.
Laura professed her private vow of chastity at the evening’s Vespers service. Sr. Helene Cote, Provincial and Sr. Diane Dube, CLPM Director, witnessed her commitment. Several friends, PM Sisters and Consecrated Laity also participated in prayer with and for Laura.
Laura was an atheist and grew up without any religion. After leaving a difficult marriage, Laura was introduced to a friend who invited her to Mass. While in the Church, Laura had a profound encounter with Jesus on the Cross.
Laura was hungry to know everything about Jesus and the Catholic Church. After going through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, she was baptized, confirmed and received Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time. Laura went on to get her Masters degree in Pastoral Ministry and trained as a Hospice Chaplin. Laura now enthusiastically shares her faith as a Catholic Hospital Chaplain. She is fascinated with St. Marie Rivier and Mother Mary. She has chosen Jesus as the center of her life. We are truly blessed to welcome this vibrant, faith-filled woman as a Consecrated Member of the Spiritual Family of the Presentation of Mary.
